Information about the group

logo del grupo

The Biocolloid and Fluid Physics group is an internationally recognized group belonging to the Department of Applied Physics of the University of Granada (Spain).

Biocolloid and Fluid Physics group houses physicists, chemists, biochemists and external collaborators. The team currently trains 3 post-doctoral people, 12 graduate and 1 undergraduate students funded by programmes launched by MICINN, Junta de Andalucía (Spain) and the U. Granada.

Our group is actively involved in multidisciplinary basic and applied research in Colloid and Interface Science. In particular, we study wetting and drop dynamics on chemically and topographically engineered surfaces, confinement of complex fluids at curved interfacial regions, magnetic-driven colloidal aggregation, synthesis of nanoparticles and colloidal stability. These areas are mainly investigated experimentally (Contact angle measurements, Photon Correlation Spectroscopy, Electrophoresis, Langmuir balance), also have expertise in theory (Gradient theory) and simulation (Brownian dynamics, Montecarlo techniques, Stochastic Rotation Dynamics).

One of the most outstanding features of our group is the close and long-standing collaboration with industry (Repsol-YPF, KolmerSA, Biokit, Operon).
